Every spring for 27 seasons UCLA Coach John Wooden would teach his players how to tie their sneakers. Imagine that, teaching grown men how to tie their sneakers.

While it seems trivial, it was a crucial step within a larger system. He did not want his players to stop in the middle of a game to tie their sneakers; this would waste time and affect the flow of their game. Knowing how to properly tie their sneakers was but one component of a larger proven procedure that created winners on a consistent basis.
